Under fire Villa manager gets backing from club legend
With new manager Paul Lambert seeing his Aston Villa side set a record for the club's worst ever start to a Premier League season, a vote of confidence from one of the club's greatest ever players will no doubt come as welcome support.
Ian Taylor played for Villa more than 200 times during a nine year spell, where for much of the time he was also captain.
And although he admits to concern that the club he supported all his life are just one point above the relegation places he believes manager Paul Lambert, who arrived in the summer from Norwich City, is the right man to lead the club forward.
But there was no hiding his feelings at seeing the club he still supports being so near to the bottom of the Premier League.
Aston Villa host Norwich City on Saturday, Lambert will hope that Aston Villa show his former club he hasn't lost the knack for winning.
