The British Land Speed Record Team will today revisit their vehicle at the Coventry Transport Museum.

In October 1997 the team, headed up by Richard Noble OBE, smashed the sound barrier by reaching an average speed of 763mph on Thrust SSC at the Black Rock Desert, USA.

Coventry Transport Museum is the permanent home to both Thrust SSC and her predecessor Thrust 2 - the former Land Speed Record holder from 1983 which achieved an average speed of 633mph.

Thrust SSC is still the land speed record holder and is, therefore, the fastest car in the world.

Bloodhound SSC is the next land speed record project headed up by Richard Noble and Andy Green, intending to break the 763mph barrier in 2013 and the 1,000mph barrier in 2014 in South Africa.
