Midlands flooding, the latest

The Environment Agency has warned that parts of the River Severn are still rising following heavy rainfall yesterday and overnight.

The four flood warnings currently in place are for Tewkesbury, River Sow at Tixall and in the St Thomas area, the River Dove at Doveridge and Sudbury, as well as 22 Flood Alerts.

Barriers have been taken down at Welsh Bridge as the flood peak has passed Shrewsbury.

Residents are being advised to remain vigilant along the River Severn as water moves down river.

Heavy showers are predicted in the south-west of the Midlands today.

There are likely to be further rises in some river levels, particularly on the Severn over the next 24 - 36 hours.
