Court hears man left dead in insurance plot blast
A court has heard how three men plotted together to set fire to a kebab shop in Leicester as part of a bid to falsely claim insurance.
An explosion in August last year at the Kam's King of the Grill left one of the three, 40-year-old Fiaz Ahmed Ansari dead, his body was found in the rubble by firefighters.
Today the two defendants, Shahbaz Khan, from Harrow and Mehwish Yasin, from Birmingham, both pleaded not guilty to one count of manslaughter and one count of arson.
It was also claimed that up to 17 litres of petrol was used in the kitchen to ignite the fire and that an insurance policy was taken out just weeks before the explosion which completely destroyed the take-away shop.
The trial is expected to continue into next week.
