Two dentists convicted of defrauding the NHS escape jail
Two dentists from Leicestershire have been spared jail after being convicted of defrauding the NHS of over forty six thousand pounds. Despite earning more than a hundred thousand pounds each, they doubled their profits by charging the NHS for work they'd done on private patients.
45 year old Dr Werner Muller and 64-year-old Dr John Atkinson were given 12 month suspended sentences and 300 hours of community service. They were found guilty of a double charging fraud by billing the NHS for private work they did at the Clarendon Road Dental practice in Hinckley.
Both are likely to be struck off by the general dental council.
