Team GB has hopes of a medal in the men's vault final today where Kristian Thomas will be looking to add to the team bronze won last week.

Thomas, who has the nickname "Mr Consistency" due to the regularity of his high-scoring routines and calmness under pressure, finished seventh in the individual all-around final.

The Wolverhampton-born gymnast could have been pushing for a medal had he not stumbled on his vault landing.

Thomas qualified in fifth place for the final with a score of 15.983 but knows anything can happen with medals at stake.

He said: "I'm going to keep exactly the same vaults and if I can nail it like I did in qualification who knows?

"Vault is a bit of a lottery to be honest. If you hit it right you can get a massive score, if you don't you get a bad score.

"Anything can happen on vault. I'm not going in there thinking I win a medal.

"I don't really work too well when that happens so I'm just going to go in there and try my best and hopefully that will be enough."

Yesterday, Kristian was joined by the Duchess of Cambridge to watch the Men's Pommel Horse final. He tweeted excitedly:
