29-year-old Anna Watkins from Leek won a gold medal in the rowing with her team mate Katherine Grainger. She has trained at the North Staffs rowing club and told us she felt comfortable from the half way mark.

She took up rowing in 2001 at Cambridge University. She currently rows for the Leander Club at Henley on Thames - one of the oldest clubs in the world. In 2008 she won bronze at the Beijing Olympics but said that this result was unbelievable.

In 2010 she first teamed up with her double sculls partner Katherine Grainger. They broke the Olympic record in the heats of the double sculls and she says they share a special kind of chemistry.

Watkins has already left an Olympic legacy in her home town of Leek.
