St Phillips Cathedral in Birmingham will hold a service to welcome the American and Jamaican Olympic teams today.

Usain Bolt, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Asafa Powell are all expected to attend, while the American contingent will be led by Tyson Gay.

Jamaica's male sprinters have dominated the 100 meter event in recent years, breaking the world record three times since 2005.

Usain Bolt goes into London 2012 as the fastest man in the world, but his compatriot Yohan Blake will enter the games as the fastest man of the year.

So far, nobody has beaten Blake's 9.82 second dash in the Diamond League final, set in May.

Tyson Gay can't be ruled out though - his personal best of 9.69 seconds ensures that he remains one of America's leading medal hopes.
