Many areas of the Midlands have experienced more flooding over night and into this this morning.

In some areas of the region, people have been evacuated from their homes as more flood warnings are issued, roads closed and some of this weekend's events are cancelled.

Up to 10mm of rain an hour fell in parts of the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia - prompting the Environment Agency to issue a number of fresh flood alerts.

Two people have been rescued from a house in Bewdley, Worcestershire, at about 3am this morning.

Fire crews were called to Town Mill, Dowles Brook, which was surrounded by 4ft of floodwater.

Two fire engines and two boats were sent but firefighters struggled to access the building down a small country dirt track.

The occupants were finally evacuated at around 7am and were taken to Bewdley Fire Station.

The Country, Land and Business Association's Game Fair at Belvoir Castle, Leicestershire, has been cancelled. The event was suppose to take place today and tomorrow.

English Heritage regrets that due to severe weather overnight, the Festival of History at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire has also been cancelled, both today and tomorrow.

Torrential rain overnight caused severe flooding on site, which makes it impossible to safely run the event.
