A ceramics firm based in Stoke-on-Trent have reported record sales topping £3.25 million and it is all thanks to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Renowned Hanley-based firm Emma Bridgewater Pottery have been selling commemorative mugs to mark the Queen's 60th year on the throne.

Many pottery manufacturers in the city have been celebrating a multi-million pound boost from the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Despite the official celebrations now at an end, many firms across Stoke-on-Trent predict their commemorative ranges will continue to sell at high levels throughout the rest of this year.

Portmeirion group sales and marketing director Michael Haynes says sales figures are higher for the Jubilee than the Royal Wedding last year and it is all thanks to more preparation time:

Royal Stafford was commission by a well-known high street retailer to make a range of Diamond Jubilee products and attributed much of the success to the television exposure over the Diamond Jubilee period.

One of only two ceramics firms that can boast it sold commemorative-ware for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee as well as for Queen Elizabeth II is Burgess and Leigh in Middleport.

The company has seen a £50,000 increase due to sales for the Jubilee.

So although the Diamond Jubilee celebrations have officially ended, it seems many companies in the Midlands will carry on celebrating as sales continue to increase.
