New charter could see more films made in the Midlands
Two Midlands councils have signed a charter to encourage movie-makers to choose their area as a location for filming.
Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council today made the agreement with Creative England, an organisation which supports film production around the regions.The leaders of the two authorities signed the Film Friendly Charter at Wollaton Hall in Nottingham.The Gothic mansion was used last summer as a location for filming of the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises". It's released in the UK next month.
The city council received a large undisclosed sum from Warner Bros for hiring out the Hall. The American studio also paid for £100,000 of improvements to the building.The city and the county believe attracting film-makers to the area could boost tourism and the local economy.
