Armed Forces Day parade in Leicester

A parade and service is to be held in Leicester today as part of the Armed Forces Day celebrations.

The public are being invited to show their support for service men and women of all generations by taking part in a service at Leicester Cathedral.

The service will begin at 11.00am in Leicester Cathedral this morning led by Very Reverend Vivienne Faull and will be attended by the Lord-Lieutenant, the Lord Mayor of Leicester and the Chairman of the County Council, they will be joined by representatives of the Armed Forces as well as members of the public.

Organisers are inviting members of the public to join them in the events today to celebrate and pay tribute to the Armed Forces.

The parade will form at 12.00pm and be led by the Seaforth Highlanders Regimental Association band, which is celebrating 50 years in Leicester.

The parade will march along the High Street to the Clock Tower and along Gallowtree Gate where the Lord-Lieutenant will take the salute.
