It is being reported Michael Owen could join Stoke City later this month.

The 32-year-old, who was released by Manchester United this summer, confirmed at the time he had no plans to retire, having previously stated his intention to remain in the top flight.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis recently admitted an interest in Owen, England's fourth highest scorer.

Fitness permitting, Pulis would presumably be looking for Owen's predatory instincts to maximise the goal threat of a side who found the net just 36 times last term, the worst record in the entire Premier League.
