Two fatal shootings in Walsall

Two people have been shot dead at a house in the Birchills area in the early hours.

Officers were called to a property on Laneside Gardens at 1.37am where a 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were found with serious gunshot injuries.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics both people died at the scene.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the deaths and a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested near to the scene of the crime in connection with the incident.

Both of the arrested individuals have been taken to a police station for questioning.

The road remains closed whilst forensic searches take place.
