Shropshire-born athlete chosen for Team GB Olympics

Shropshire-born Nick Woodbridge has been selected for Team GB in Modern Pentathlon at the 2012 Olympics.

It was announced today by the British Olympic Association that the 25-year-old athlete would be representing Great Britain long with three others.

Mhairi Spence (26), Samantha Murray (22) and Sam Weale (30) and Nick learnt the news following a very competitive qualification period during which each athlete exceeded the Olympic qualification standard.

Modern Pentathlon is a sports contest that involved shooting, fencing, 200 metre freestyle swimming and a 3 kilometre cross-country run.

Nick is currently ranked fifth in the world in the men's competition this will be his second Olympic games he has competed in.
