The KO came in the 5th round, but Froch had almost floored his Canadian opponent in the third and again in the fourth.

Such a fast and aggressive attack was a different tactic for Froch who has seen all his recent fights make it to the full 12 rounds.

But the brave, positive approach certainly worked, the victory had the sell out crowd in raptures and secured Carl his third World title.

Already the performance has been described by many commentators as Froch's greatest ever, although the fighter himself said it is one of many where he has had to prove he is world class.

He added that securing a third World title still hasn't sunk in, but did say if he'd lost this fight he might have retired.

His fans will be delighted that it didn't come to that.

In fact with such a dominant display it didn't even come close.
