Engelbert fails to impress judges at Eurovision
Leicester's biggest star Engelbert Humperdinck scraped into the last-but-one place in last night's 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.
The singer opened the show in Baku, Azerbaijan with the ballad Love Will Set You Free, but 25 songs later when voting started Engelbert failed to impress the judges.
Humperdinck who has a career spanning 45 years, selling 150 million records said he "did the best for my country".
Raised in Highfields, Leicester, even Humperdinck's lucky necklace given to him by Elvis Presley failed to bring him good fortune last night, who only scored points from Belgium, Estonia, Latvia and Ireland.
