Inquests will open this morning into the deaths of six children who died in a house fire in Allenton in Derby a week ago.

Jade Philpott, 10, and brothers John, nine, Jack, seven, Jessie, six, and five-year-old Jayden breathed in smoke when fire ripped through their home.

Their 13-year-old brother Duwayne died several days later in the Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Their parents, Mick and Mairead Philpott say they have been overwhelmed by the support of the community and those involved in the investigation.

Derbyshire Police say they believe the six children were killed in an arson attack, after petrol was poured through the letter box of their home.
