The family of Peter Rippington are expecting hundreds of people to attend a charity football match tonight being held in his name.

The teacher died in a coach crash in France, on the way back from a school ski trip.

Tonight's charity football match is being held at 7pm at Alvechurch Football Club in Worcestershire, a club where Mr Rippington used to referee.

His children Amy and Max Rippington will captain the two football teams, which will be made up of Peter's friends and family.

During the match there will be a one minute's applause in memory of Peter Rippington.

His 24 year old daughter Amy told Central Tonight that the family wanted to organise the charity event to celebrate her father's life.

The family also wanted to thank the local community for all the support they have received since Mr Rippington died three months ago.

Amy Rippington, who is also a teacher, said she hopes to continue her father's legacy and one day organise her own school ski trips.

All proceeds from tonight's event will go towards Peter Rippington's Memorial Fund.
