Three West Midlands Air Ambulances are back in the skies today after they were grounded at the weekend due to safety concerns.

The Eurocopters were grounded by their operator because cracks had appeared on some of the helicopters in Europe. No faults have been found in the Midlands Air ambulance aircraft.

After further tests the aircraft have been allowed to take to the skies again and daily checks will be carried out on the affected part until it can be replaced.

Around 1,000 of the EC 135's are in use around the world and they are popular with Air Ambulance services across the country.

West Midlands Air Ambulance are now back up to their full complement of five aircraft.
