Northampton Saints know their season will effectively be over if they don't win their penultimate Premiership game at Exeter on Sunday.

Jim Mallinder's Saints are currently fifth, two points behind Exeter in fourth. And with a win worth four points, a defeat will leave the Saints short of making the play-offs. Mallinder know's it's 'sudden death' for his team.

Jim Mallinder, director of rugby and Northampton Saints, said: "It's all about winning. The odd bonus point might make a difference but you can't go down with that mentality because there's still another game left two weeks later.

"So we've got to go down there, we've got to give it everything, and its a little bit like knock-out rugby. A bit like the semi-finals which apply fairly soon, but it's come to us earlier than we'd wished."
