Duran Duran legend takes up ambassador role with the Air Ambulance Service
Simon Le Bon from Birmingham pop group Duran Duran is taking up the role of ambassador with the Air Ambulance Service and the Childrens' Air Ambulance.
The charity strikes a chord with Simon. He was rescued by The Royal Navy Search and Rescue team several years ago after his yacht capsized during the Fastnet Yacht Race.
Today the star will be visiting The Air Ambulance Service's Operational Headquarters at Coventry's Baginton Airport.
He will meet staff and crew who will show him around the facilities.
Crew will also present Simon with a pilot's uniform before he takes to the skies in a fast response, state-of-the-art Agusta helicopter.
