The Notts players travelled to France to see where players who were the equivalent of Wayne Rooney or David Beckham fought and died between 1914 and 1918.

The Footballers' Batalion first saw action in the battle of the Somme at Delville Wood in July 1916. By the end of the month 36 men had died and further 200 were injured.

Of the 4500 men who fought in the war, it's thought around 900 lost their lives with many more injured.
