Nottinghamshire Police welcome report into undercover investigation
Nottinghamshire Police has welcomed the findings of a report by the Independent Police Complaints Commission surrounding the trial of six environmental protesters who had allegedly conspired to disable Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station three years ago.
The trial, at Nottingham Crown Court, collapsed because of issues surrounding the disclosures of evidence about the undercover officer, known as Mark Stone, who to infiltrated the protest group.
The IPCC report, out today, concludes that the evidence produced by the undercover police officer was disclosed by Nottinghamshire Police to the Crown Prosecution Service many months before the trial collapsed and that no officer should face any disciplinary action.
