A bomb hoaxer has been jailed for sixteen months for telling the security services that a bomb had been planted in a school in Birmingham.

Ghulam Kibria made the bomb threat on MI5's public website in November last year.

His email read: "There is a bomb planted in Prince Albert Junior and Infant School in Aston. There is nothing you can do. We can strike any time, anywhere."

The threat was treated seriously and it led to hundreds of pupils, staff and parents being evacuated from the building by West Midlands Police.

The court heard the bomb hoax caused panic and absenteeism at the school.

Kibria, 33, is from Bradford in West Yorkshire.

Judge John Maxwell said Kibria's motive had been "revenge" and "malice" against his ex-wife, by falsely naming her to get her into trouble.

Birmingham Crown Court was told Kibria had profound mental health difficulties.
