Darren Bent has surgery to repair ruptured ligaments
Aston Villa striker Darren Bent underwent surgery tonight to repair ruptured ligaments in his left ankle.
The operation has been deemed a 'complete success' by his club and he is expected to resume training in 12 weeks.
It is doubtful that he will be fit to feature in the England squad for the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and the Ukraine.
The Villa striker, aged 28, has averaged approximately one goal every two games for Villa since he was signed for a club record £18 million move from Sunderland in January 2011
Speaking on Twitter about his injury, Darren Bent expressed his disappointment.
