Five figure payout for mother of stillborn baby
Celina Carr was rushed to Birmingham Women's Hospital when she went into labour. She was examined by a midwife who suggested she might have a urine infection. Ms Carr says she begged for pain relief and a scan because she knew something was wrong but was told the senior doctor was too busy. By the time he did see her an hour and a half later there was no trace of her baby's heart beat. The placenta had come detached from the wall of the uterus. An investigation at the hospital found mistakes made by staff resulted in Celinna's baby being stillborn. They have since been retrained and Celinna give a five figure compensation pay out.
