Metal Thieves Attack Church Visited By Pope

The thieves took over eleven thousand pounds of metal from the Oratory and tried to wrench the cross from the roof.

Temporary repairs have been made to keep the building watertight.

Birmingham Oratory was visited by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010.

The Parish Priest at the Oratory has condemned the thieves violent and criminal actions.
