Traffic chaos on M62 in West Yorkshire with both carriageways affected by accidents

A second accident on the M62 in West Yorkshire is causing traffic chaos this morning.

A multi-vehicle accident has led to the closure of two lanes Westbound between J25 A644 (Brighouse) and J24 A629 (Ainley Top). This is affecting traffic btween Cleckheaton and Rochdale.

This is a separate incident to the closure on the opposing carriageway due to an oil spillage after an earlier accident. The whole of the Eastbound carriageway is closed between J24 A629 (Ainley Top) and J25 A644 (Brighouse), with congestion back to J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor).

It is likely to remain closed throughout the morning rush hour. Routes into Ripponden, Huddersfield and Brighouse are very congested.
