Two people killed walking across A64 near Malton

A man and a woman have been killed while crossing the A64 at Welburn near Malton.

North Yorkshire Police say the two people were struck by a white car travelling east towards Scarborough at around 10:55pm on Friday evening and were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. They were both in their 50s and lived nearby.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 50s from Wakefield, was uninjured as was his wife who was in the passenger seat.

The A64 was closed for several hours in both directions for investigations to take place but reopened at 3:35am. Police are searching for anyone who saw what happened.
