Police appeal after fatal collision in Bradford

Police are appealing for information after a fatal road traffic incident which has caused significant traffic disruption in Bradford today.

At 2.10 this morning, police and the fire service attended a serious incident at Wakefield Road in Bradford, at the junction with Neville Road,

They say a HGV had gone through the roundabout barrier and crashed onto the pedestrian subway network in the centre of the roundabout.

A 47-year-old man who was driving the HGV was found to be dead at the scene.

Emergency services remain at the scene today as work continues to make the road and subway safe and remove the lorry which sustained extensive damage.

Specialist lifting equipment has been requested to remove the lorry and the A650 remains closed at the location.

The incident has caused significant traffic disruption and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

Enquiries into the cause of what has been a significant and tragic incident on Bradford’s roads are ongoing today as is work to recover the lorry.
