Celebrations underway to mark Yorkshire Day
Celebrations are underway in towns and cities across the county to mark Yorkshire Day.
Can you recite the Yorkshire Declaration of Integrity?
As part of Yorkshire Day celebrations each year, the Yorkshire Declaration of Integrity (a statement to the allegiance of Yorkshire) is read out:
I (your name) being resident in the (East/North/West) Riding ofYorkshire declare:that Yorkshire is three Ridings &the City of York with these boundaries of 1140 years standing; that the address of all places in these Ridings is Yorkshire; that all persons born therein or resident therein and loyal to the Ridings are Yorkshire men and women; That any person or corporate body which deliberately ignores or denies the aforementioned shall forfeit all claim toYorkshire status.
These declarations made this Yorkshire Day 2015.
