Last man out of Bastion touches down on home soil
The last man out of Camp Bastion, Afghanistan, Wing Commander Matt Radnall, Royal Air Force Regiment arrived home on British soil, returning to RAF Brize Norton on Thursday evening.
His troops manned watchtowers on the camp perimeter until the last possible moment, handing over each tower to Afghan security forces in a well-rehearsed and seamless transition, before boarding a Royal Air Force Chinook helicopter to Kandahar, from where they were flown home.
7 Force Protection Wing based at RAF Coningsby are made up of RAF Regiment and RAF Police personnel from 15 Sqn, RAF Honington and 34 Sqn, RAF Leeming.
The Royal Air Force Regiment are the dedicated infantry for the RAF.
