Police are searching for a man who was last seen swimming in a lake in Doncaster.
Police say 8 men had gone swimming in the quarry off Hurst Lane, Auckley after 9pm.
One man, a 27-year-old, was reported missing by the others.
A police spokesman confirmed the man’s clothing had been found on the bank so they are working on the theory that he is still in the water.
Police and fire crews rushed to scene and the fire service sent their water rescue unit, while the police helicopter hovered overhead with a spotlight as dusk descended. Police also set up ground lights to illuminate the scene.
Visibilty deteriorated as thick fog enveloped the water.
None of the other seven young men needed medical attention and they have provided statements to officers.
Divers from the regional underwater search team have now taken over the search for the missing man, who is not being named at this stage.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
