City of York Council say around 100,000 people lined the city's streets to see off Stage Two of Le Tour de France today.
I just want to thank all the staff involved from the council, the emergency services and city-wide partners who’ve worked hard for the past year on making this day as special as it has been - ensuring the best of York is seen by billions of people worldwide._
This weekend the city has really come together as a community – an estimated 100,000 people celebrating le Tour in York! Thank you to the many community groups and organisation’s who’ve put such a huge effort in not just today’s festivities but the incredible 100 days cultural festival which has drawn its own crowds along the way_
What a day! I am so proud of the city my colleagues and I serve, the people who live here and the businesses based here. York will not be forgotten after the celebrations we’ve put on for this once in a lifetime event._
