Candidates will contest the Newark by-election on June 5. The seat is vacant after Patrick Mercer quit as MP for Newark for allegedly taking cash to ask questions in Parliament.

The MEP Roger Helmer is to represent UKIP in the forthcoming Newark Byelection and today, he visited the market town where he courted voters and the media.
He's been an MEP for fifteen years and he is no stranger to controversy.
