Lincolnshire police are totting up how much it cost to manage two protests held in Grantham. English Defence League staged a rally against plans for an Islamic Centre in the town. A counter demonstration was held by Grantham Solidarity Network.
Lincolnshire police on duty in Grantham say two opposing protests which took place in the town passed off peacefully. Around 250 officers - some drafted in from other forces - were on duty.

At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
