Big money signings as Allem continues to divide opinion

Hull City might be in turmoil behind the scenes as owner Assem Allam looks to rebrand the club the "Hull Tigers", but fans, supportive or otherwise, must be encouraged by the club's transfer activity this month.

Summer signings of proven Premiership quality in Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore, who's loan deal has been extended, have been complemented with big money moves for Shane Long and Nikita Jelavic.

Despite early hiccoughs in the move, primarily from Long's pregnant wife Kayleigh, Steve Bruce got his man for a fee expected to rise to around £7 million.

Croat Jelavic moved to the KC in a World Cup year, looking first team football that could secure his place in Niko Kovac's squad for Brazil.

Former Leeds and Athletico Madrid right back Elliot Kebbie joins but is unlikely to be considered for Bruce's first team squad until next season.

Young winger Cameron Stewart, strikers Nick Proschwitz and Aaron Mclean left for Yorkshire clubs Leeds, Barnsley and Bradford on loan.

Versatile midfielder Tom Cairney joins Championship side Blackburn for an undisclosed fee while youngster Conor Townsend heads to Carlisle on loan.

In a late deal, Jack Hobbs was allowed to leave the club on loan to Nottingham Forest.
