A man has died, homes are being evacuated and communities are already counting the costs after severe gale-force winds and floods hit the Calendar region.
Traffic chaos on A1 as lorry overturns
Motorists face long delays on the A1(M) after a lorry overturned in gale force winds.
The northbound carriageway is blocked between Barnsdale Bar and junction 40 near Darrington.
There are long delays through North Elmsall and other surrounding areas as a result.
The road is expected to be closed for at least two hours and motorists have been told to find alternative routes.
