The heavy rain that saw flash flooding cause devastation in a West Yorkshire village is expected to be replaced by hot weather from Spain in the coming days, with temperatures exceeding 30C.
The village of Walsden, near Todmorden, West Yorkshire, was hit by up to 18in of water on Monday night after extremely heavy rainfall. The flood water poured from a culvert and down a side street, ripping huge chunks out of the road surface and destroying the road.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
This Evening and Tonight: Showers or longer spells of rain are forecast through the evening and night.
For the second day running there were no deaths of people who tested positive for coronavirus in Scotland.
