Emmerdale cast and crew members are paying tribute to the actor Richard Thorp at his memorial service today. He played the character of Alan Turner until his death in May. The service is taking place at Leeds Minster this afternoon.
A private funeral has taken place for the Emmerdale actor Richard Thorp, known to millions of people as Alan Turner, who died last month at the age of 81. The service was for close family members only. Plans are being considered for a bigger memorial service later in the year.
This evening marks the final on-screen appearance of Richard in the Yorkshire-based soap, an episode which is dedicated to his memory. Producers say his absence will mentioned on screen in the coming weeks and a fitting way of writing out his character is being worked on for the future.
