Four arrests in EDL protest

Police have thanked residents in Moortown for their co-operation following today's largely peaceful demonstrations in the area. Four people have been arrested during the protest.

Today's demonstration and counter demonstration have passed off largely without incident with only four arrests for offences such as drunk and disorderly behaviour and minor public order offences.

We have worked to minimise disruption as much as we can and I want to thank residents for their calm and considered response to these demonstrations in their community and also for working with us to allow Police to facilitate this protest peacefully.

– Superintendent Martin Snowden, of North East Leeds Police
