Bradford's caped crusader has revealed he is "gobsmacked" by the publicity he has attracted. Batman, AKA delivery driver Stan Worby from Wyke, says his handing in of his friend to the local police station in the outfit was a pratical joke.
A Batman clad Stan was watching Bradford City's game at Wembley when he received a call from his friend, asking him to take him to the police station. Stan told him to wait until he got home and didn't even get time to change out of his costume before picking up his friend.
"I got the car and took him to the police station still dressed as Batman as a joke. He wanted to get straight there," said Stan. He has also defended criticism of his "paunch" saying it was because he was wearing his full tracksuit underneath the Batman costume.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
