A very valuable copy of a Charles Dickens novel is back in its spiritual home of North Yorkshire. The copy of A Christmas Carol was bought at auction in New York and is now on show at Castle Howard.
Dickens is said to have been inspired to write the famous Yuletide tale after visiting friends in the area. Broadcaster Selina Scott has spearheaded the campaign to bring the book back to the rural market town.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
