In the Sheffield floods of 2007 many businesses were forced to shut down and we had the shocking spectacle of helicopter rescue winching people from their place of work. So our city knows only too well the devastating damage that serious flooding can do.
This £11m additional investment in flood defences will help improve flood protection for over 300 businesses in Sheffield and encourage new businesses to move into the area. From having spoken directly to many of them myself, I know that businesses located in our industrial heartland of the Lower Don Valley will welcome this news.
