Sheffield Wednesday boss says fans need to police themselves

Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones today spoke to the media ahead of his side's game against Blackburn Rovers tomorrow night.

4 days after the now infamous Yorkshire derby between Wednesday and Leeds United in which Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was attacked on the pitch by a fan, Jones called on fans to police themselves after experiencing what he described as the worst abuse he'd heard in a football ground.

After the game Jones labelled Leeds fans "vile animals" in response to vicious and unfounded chants regarding child abuse allegations dating back to the turn of the Millennium. Allegations that were thrown out in court.
