The University of Sheffield has been named the best institution in Yorkshire and the Humber and has risen six places in the world’s largest and most extensive university ranking this year.

The University of Sheffield is celebrating after having been named as the best in Yorkshire and the Humber following a survey. It has also risen six places in what is regarded as the world’s largest and most extensive university ranking this year.
It is now in 66th place out of more than 2,500 institutions across the world - and is also one of just 18 in the UK to be named in the annual QS World University Rankings prestigious top 100.
The rankings taken into account such things as staff: student ratios, and the proportion of international staff and students - and were compiled this year following surveys of more than 46,000 academics and 28,000 employers.
Professor Keith Burnett, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield, said it was a fantastic accolade for the University and one that was well deserved. For other results click here .
