UK Coal and Joy Mining sentenced over the death of Ian cameron at Kellingley Colliery in 2009
UK Coal has been fined £200,000 after admitting serious safety breaches which led to the death of miner Ian Cameron at Kellingley Colliery in October 2009.
Mr Cameron was crushed to death by faulty machinery as he worked deep underground. Joy Mining Ltd, which supplied the machinery, knew of the fault but had failed to inform UK Coal, Leeds Crown Court was told. It was fined £50,000.
At around 11pm on Friday night police were called to Darley Avenue in Athersley to reports that a man had been stabbed.
