Labour's Ros Jones re-elected as Mayor of Doncaster

Labour candidate Ros Jones has been re-elected as Mayor of Doncaster.

She won yesterday's mayoral election with 50.29% of the vote.

In her victory speech, Ms Jones said she would prioritise 'the economy and skills'.

The full result is as follows:

  • Ros Jones (Lab) 32,631 (50.92%, +15.09%)
  • George Jabbour (C) 13,575 (21.18%, +16.61%)
  • Brian Whitmore (UKIP) 7,764 (12.12%)
  • Eddie Todd (ND) 5,344 (8.34%)
  • Chris Whitwood (Yorkshire) 3,235 (5.05%)
  • Steve Williams (TUSC) 1,531 (2.39%, -0.73%)

Electorate 221,786; Turnout 64,080 (28.89%, +1.71%)

Local election council: Lincolnshire - Conservative gain

The Conservative Party have taken overall control of Lincolnshire County Council.

The gain came at the expense of UKIP who were completely wiped out.

UKIP's Lisa Duffy said the results were not a 'disaster' for the party but acknowledged it was 'very disappointing' it had been wiped out in Lincolnshire.
