Storm surge latest: 'small number' of properties flooded along East Coast
Thousands of people were evacuated from their homes amid fears of flooding along the east coast.
A 'small number' of properties were flooded in Whitby, while the tidal surge also came over defences in Scarborough.
In Hornsea an elderly woman and two children were rescued from a floating car.

Severe weather on Lincolnshire's East Coast low
The Strategic Command Group convened to oversee the State of Emergency in Lincolnshire, which was declared on Wednesday (11th January), have decided that the threat is now low and have made the decision that all agencies can return to business as usual.

In Scarborough's Foreshore Road, sand, seaweed, rocks and pebbles battered the coast. On Scarborough's North Bay, waves reached a number of businesses.
